These two items show FDI postmarks produced for the 1969 issue of the USA 'First Man on the Moon' stamp. Sometimes
incorrectly identified as two postmarks or cachets, it is actually a single postmark produced by the USAPO and
applied on September 9. 1969. The 'Moon Landing' part of the cachet is a facsimile of the cachet applied to a letter
that orbited the moon aboard Apollo 11.
The second item -- the one showing Washington DC and Moon Landing side-by-side-- is a hand cancel. This version is not nearly as common, of course, as only those items presented at the time of the FD ceremony received this cancel.
